The 2012 Version
So, originally, this blog was the record of my journey to doing my first Ironman. Happily, in August 2010, I realized my dream and crossed the finish line at Ironman Louisville. Minutes later, a friend suggested that I would have to change my blog to Ironwomansheis.com. I loved the idea, but decided to keep domain “to be” because it reminds me that there is always a “what’s next?” in life! But I did add it to the tag line just for you Frosty:-)
So, here I go again. Thanks for joining along!
The 2010 version
Welcome to my Ironwoman to be blog. Basically, I’ll be following my progress from an middle-of-the-pack (towards the back of the middle, if I’m going to be honest) athlete making her first attempt at an Ironman Triathlon.
The goal of this blog is track my training (i.e. keep me accountable), document the memories I might not have time to process in the moment, and also serve as a guide to anybody thinking about doing their first ironman. Call it a cautionary tale if you like.
Michelle: You amaze me. I might have tried this when I was much younger but it didn’t exist. Women were just not considered to be capable of such grueling competition. My daughter has done this event…..like you…anticipated coming in at the middle of the pack…..to me…just thinking of competing in this deserves a standing ovation…..participating…Loud BRAVOS….and FINISHING…I don’t know what that deserves…wishing you the strength to move to the completing of this task…..
You’re doing this for the tattoo, aren’t you?
You are AWESOME, Michelle!!!!
I came upon your blog completely by accident, you know looking for something else totally unrelated. I have truly enjoyed the visit. You seem like a wonderful person and your writing is a joy to read. I wish you the best in your pursuit of the ironman. On a side note, my goal is a half marathon before 50 (that would be before next May)and I’m not nearly as dedicated or successful in that pursuit as I had hoped, yet. I’m even a little discouraged today realizing that stuff still throws my training off track but you’ve motivated me and I won’t quit either. My mantra for life is to “Keep Moving Forward” (from the movie Meet the Robinsons). So here I go.
